Martijn de Klerk (MSc.) es gerente financiero y experto en sensores aéreos, con más de seis años de experiencia en la gestión y ejecución de proyectos internacionales sobre la gestión de recursos hídricos. Se graduó de su Máster en Ciencias Ambientales en la Universidad de Wageningen, donde adquirió amplia experiencia en la planificación y organización de proyectos, y donde a su vez trabajó como consultor e investigador.

Posee experiencia laboral en países como España, Mozambique, Kenia, Ghana, Sudáfrica y los Países Bajos, en temáticas como la modelización hidrológica, vuelos con drones y procesamiento e interpretación de imágenes de satélite y análisis GIS, tanto a escala local como de cuenca. En los últimos años Martijn ha desarrollado principalmnete una labor de gestor del proyecto de FutureWater ‘ThirdEye’ en Mozambique, Kenia y Ghana.

En los últimos años, Martijn ha tenido un papel predominante como director de proyectos de sensores de vuelo agrícola (drones) de FutureWater en Mozambique, Kenia y Ghana. En dichos proyectos, estuvieron involucradas exitosas empresas locales que brindan un servicio de drones de bajo coste a pequeños y grandes agricultores. Las imágenes de drones de alta resolución, que son tomadas por operadores locales capacitados, indican el estrés del cultivo alrededor de diez días antes de que pueda ser detectado a simple vista. Esta herramienta de detección temprana brinda a los agricultores la posibilidad de tomar medidas preventivas, reduciendo la pérdida de cultivos y, por tanto, aumentando el rendimiento y las ganancias de los agricultores. En algunos proyectos, las imágenes también se utilizan para un análisis innovador de la productividad (del agua) en combinación con el modelado del crecimiento de los cultivos.
